Is screen mirroring safe?
Mirroring shows your screen. It does not hand over your phone. Knowing exactly what is shared, and with whom, makes it easy to use without surprises.

What the PC receives
The picture on your iPhone's screen and its sound, and nothing else. The PC gets no access to your photos, messages, passwords or files, and cannot control the phone. When you stop mirroring, it receives nothing.
Everything on the screen is shown, though, including notifications that pop up and anything you type in view. Turn on a Focus such as Do Not Disturb before mirroring in front of other people.
Where the picture travels
From the phone to the PC across your local network. It does not go through the internet or through any server. Mirlow has no servers, no account and no analytics, and does not record or save what it shows.
Who can connect to your PC
While Mirlow is open, your PC is listed as a receiver for devices on the same network, and someone on that network could send their screen to it. They would be showing you their screen; they would not gain access to your PC.
On a home network that means the people you live with. On a shared or public network, quit Mirlow from its icon in the notification area when you are not using it.
Five good habits
Mirror on networks you trust. Turn on Do Not Disturb first. Stop mirroring before opening your banking app or your passwords. Quit Mirlow when you are finished on a shared network. Download Mirlow only from its own site or its GitHub page, and compare the checksum if in doubt.
Common questions
Can someone see my iPhone screen without my knowing?
Mirroring starts only when you choose a receiver in Control Centre on your own phone, and iOS shows an indicator at the top of the screen for as long as it lasts.
Is Mirlow itself safe to install?
Its source code is public, it makes no internet connections, and the checksum of each installer is published so you can confirm the file is the genuine one. The installer is not yet digitally signed, so Windows may show a caution when you open it.
Why does Mirlow need a firewall permission?
So that your iPhone can find and reach the PC on your local network. The permission covers the receiver only.
Does Mirlow collect any data?
No. There is nothing to send it to: no account, no telemetry, no advertising.
Try it on your own PC
Mirlow is free and open source, and needs no account.
